Yea, Vita. Hayes is on the downside of his career and he'll provide depth for the Dolphins and may even get to start a game or two.

I think the Rams weighed Hays 5.5m cap hit vs how much he would be playing in the new defensive scheme and decided that's a lot of money. Rams simply don't have the cap space to afford that luxury to keep him. The Fins do and picked up a solid DE for picking up his salary. The Rams will find someone cheaper to fill Hays roll.

Don't know why Phillips likes Webster so much. He is rated the 42nd best CB available. We have competition from the Jets and Eagles. If we want to bring in Hightower at LB, we'd better get on the stick because he is visiting the Jets and is seriously thinking of re-upping with the Patriots.

Elsewhere, T.J. Lang signed with the Lions, Adrian Petersen is headed to Seattle for a visit, and Groy is still available for the right salary.

I would guess that Phillips knows Webster a lot better than anyone rating the available CBs. He was buried behind some strong DBs at Denver (Talib, Harris, Roby), not a lot of game film to critique.

I was hoping for a bigger contract, at that price it will probably be matched

Yep, the Rams apparently are not through. Depending on who you read, Webster is an equivocal signing. I hope Phillips is right on this guy. I also hope we get Groy. The potential Jones and Barwin deals are interesting. Looks as though someone in the Rams organization is going after players who are winners and not these overpaid, undisciplined, losers we have watched for the last five years. Perhaps they are adopting and implementing the Jimmy Johnson Caboys and the NE models, finally.

Guys I have read all the thread going back to before the FA signing of our new LT and WR and the dropping of the old Fisher crap. Whitworth is older yes but the Rams line does need a guys in it with a clue. He has that. Woods, well is it an upgrade over Britt even at the price, yes with the front end price especially. Webster really hasn't seen the game first hand so a new place with a new start probably is OK. Groy would be a steal at 5 for two years and the Rams wouldn't have to focus our 2nd rounder on center. Barwin would also be interesting in that we are moving to a 3-4 mostly. I do think TJ will be back and I would have let Johnson go at the price we have to keep him. Not sure we are going to find a trade partner for that price. Just figure next year unless he becomes the next best thing ever at CB, we let him walk.

Agreed

Contract isn't significant enough for the Bills to not want to match it.

But, at least the Rams are trying.

Hopefully, the roster bonus in the deal will be the poison pill that keeps them from matching!
