This was pretty much a forgone conclusions from the moment they franchised him last year. Around 80% of franchised tagged players end up leaving the squad that franchised them when they play the season under the tag. Had the Skins simply worked out a long term dael with him last year this would be a non issue. I know many will say in light of his injury it was a good thing we didnt sign him long term. But thats kinda like saying wow good thing I didnt marry that girl from high schools because two years later she blew up... hind sight is always 20/20.

I guess we have to go LB now. Murphy is solid against the run, but that's about it from what I see so far. Orakpo isn't Lawrence Taylor, but I just wanted to have all options on the table come draft day. I could see Cowboys or Texans.

After watching him speak on NFL network, it seems he may be moving on. Unless he is actually bluffing to give the Skins something to think about but all indications are regardless of the injuries, regardless of the fact the Skins gave him over $11m last year for nothing, and regardless of how he has under achieved based upon his draft selection by the team, money is the only thing he values at this point, not loyalty.

If the Skins offered say $7-8m per year for 5 years with a $10m guarantee signing bonus, I could live with that. If he says no, then move on and draft your next OLB.

I Vote to put Alfred Morris up right now in the upper right portion of the banner.

I am not an Orakpo guy but I would offer him 3 years at 15 million with year one guaranteed.

Way too much for him and there is no way we should guarantee anything more than year 1.

Kinda Comment and Kinda bringing this back to the front page.

The longer he stays on the market, the better the chances both sides come together to keep him In DC for another season.

Still hoping this happens.

Arent you concerned about his reliability from a health standpoint? I gotta believe his PEC issues are going to continue to be a recurring issue.

Not really. If the team is dumb enough to not have a plan B in place as well.. well then stuff happens. I would rather resign Rak and pick up another pas rush specialist in rounds 3-7 at this point.

What would you think is fair compensation?

Fair, I would say a 3 year deal HEAVY on incentives. Maybe in the $5 million a year range if he meets playing time and performance incentives.

Cmon. All NFL players should put a premium on money & I feel pretty confident in saying that most of us would feel the same way. You have to remember that this is a job (with very short duration for most) & the primary motivation for most people's job is the $$.

If the difference in the salary between the Redskins offer and others is minimal I could agree with your pt. However - if it is substantial I see no problem with Rak moving on. Try to view this as a real world situation & not some game or hobby as it is for fans.
