The running game and o-line didn't impress me but once Robinson was on the field it changed the whole game around. Defense looked good but injuries and our secondary are a concern I feel. Ficken looked really good and properly won the game for us.

Offensive lines for both teams missed a lot of assignments. Two TEs down for PSU. Clearly Allen Robinson is a game changer. I thought PSU's secondary made some nice plays. Oline will come together in the next couple of weeks.

I think our OL will be fine. First game was a little sloppy and they missed a few assignments, but overall they gave Hack a good pocket most of the day. Running game started slow last year as well, once Hack gets more comfortable and they open the playbook up more, it will open up running game too. AS for Hack, he looked tremendous for a true freshman making stat #1, not sure what more you could ask for in that situation, especially with the #1 offensive weapon sitting out a half. Speaking of Robinson, WOW, is he a difference maker....and that was not a fumble!!! Secondar, I think on the whole was better than last year at this point by a big margin. A couple breakdowns, like the long pass and a few sloppy missed tackles that would've stopped drives, but Williams was very good, Beng was everywhere, Amos was Amos and Lucas was in position when he wasn't on sidelines dinged up. Biggest concern for me is Hull's knee. Can't have him out long term. DaQuan Jones was in beast mode along with Carson. Those 2 really stood out in front 7.

Gotta feel good for Ficken as well. Kid worked his ass off and took so much abuse last year, so happy to see him off to great start and hit a long one because we'll need him.

Going forward, need to tighten up tackling, think some of the misses were a product of not going live as much due to lack of depth in practice, tighten up assignments on OL and continue to watch Hack evolve into the superstar he can be. WE need to involve James and Carter (I know he was out for a bit yesterday) much more as well.

Small injury update, sadly, Lehman tore ACL done for year. Hull minor knee sprain, said to be walking fine, probably back in couple weeks.

That's ashame for Lehman. Glad Hull's injury wasn't serious. I also agree that tackling was horrible most likely due to how they were taught to not hit because of fear on injury during camp. I saw one play during the game were our DE came basically straight in and could've laid a huge hit on their qb but instead just slowed down in front of him while the qb threw the ball.

They had plenty more where they blew up the line and made the play on QB or RB though. Jones had at least 9 tackles from his DT spot, that's a big number for DT. He was shredding that OL all day. Need more out of Barnes though.

Good Morning Linebacker U. Congrats...PSU played well enough to win this one against my boys....again.

Both teams QB's have a bunch to work on. But Hack is going to be special. A true freshman coming in and taking his licks and still making plays....man. I think he let everyone know he is here to stay. Poor Ferg. Bad fumble and I'm not sure he will sniff the field again.

Other PSU players that I really liked were Zwinak, of course Robinson is a beast, and your boy mentioned above. People underestimate the need of a kicking game. SU had a very dangerous kick off specialist back there. But a lot of good that does ya when Ficken is kicking the ball to the back of the end zone.

You have a big O and D line, still undersized I thought my boys played you very well on the D side of the ball. I see today SU actually had more yards on the ground than PSU. I thought PSU was over 100 yards, but the box score showed in the 50's.

Just jonvi's take. Good game and good luck moving ahead.

Sorry men and ladies. I hate seeing injuries. I'll hope for a good recovery.

Yeah, it is a real shame. Kid was a walk on who worked his ass off and had legit chance to get drafted. Non contact injury to make it even worse. Really feel for the kid. Breneman will see plenty of playing time now

Syracuse run blitzed constantly daring Hack to beat them in air, which is a very solid strategy for a QB making his first start, especially a true freshman. They disguised some blitzes nicely as well, especially the zone blitz he threw the pick on late that got Cuse back in when I though it was over.

Cuse played tough and never gave up, even after going down 2 scores on that strike from Hack to Geno Lewis..

Fergy may very well never see field again barring injury or blowout. I don't think he'd have been in if Hack's forearm hadn't been sore. As much as he wants to play both, its not in BOB's nature to be a 2 QB guy.

Both teams should be fine if they clean up the little things. Good luck in first ACC year and kick the shit out of Pitt!!!!

Fun game to watch and it seemed to me that Penn State was able to stay with their game plan and Syracuse forgot their running game in the 4th quarter. The upside for Hackenberg looks great. Once he begins to feel comfortable, He can be a game changer. Looking forward to an improved Penn State team as Jonvi and I will be in State College for the Michigan game. Last time we were there Illinois pounded on the Lions as there was no answer for Lashure. This year's team looks a lot better as the run defense is outstanding. IMO, if Penn State can stay healthy and improve some on offense, that team can stay with top 10 teams.

Nice, homecoming weekend. Also the opening of the new Ice Hockey arena. I'm sure I'll be there Saturday, hopefully Friday if I can find a ticket for hockey.

Looking forward to being there. I love that area and the fall colors will be at peak. A bunch of us who were born and raised in Bellefonte always get together each year. This year, my goal is to get those guys to tail-gate as we do here in the SEC so if you see a couple of guys wearing Syracuse Orange and Gator blue& orange that will be us "smokin"the ribs and being loud. Penn State colors go on for the game.

If you are making ribs, I'm stopping by, LOL. Yeah, I've been to many game sin south as well. Have some friends who are big FSU fans, made a trip a year with them during our 20's. Saw many great games and it was even better when I didn't care who won:suds:

Mmmmmmmmm. I'm feeling better already. Something bout good people, ribs and beer. They take my blues away.

Please stop by linebacker. I'll have my Orange SU tent out...flying my colors. We should be easy to spot in that sea of blue.
