22 over 11 years, a full 2 per year average. I really didn't expect that. It's been only 1 per year over the last 2 years, though.

Who are our best candidates this year?

Preseason unranked teams that are currently ranked:

8. Clemson
11. Texas
12. Michigan
13. Georgia Tech
19. Illinois
20. Kansas State
25. Baylor

(All listed above are currently undefeated except for Baylor, who has 1 loss)

Texas and Illinois are who I think will finish in the top 10.

Iowa sits at 3-1 with a road game at a offensively inept Penn State, the Hawks then get a home game vs NW with QB issues, then they play the 2 worst teams in the B10 back to back with Minnesota and Indiana. 7-1 is a real possibility. Hawks then get 2 home games against decent competition in Michigan and MSU but Iowa has only lost 6 home games the last 8 years, Hawks then get Purdue ( yuck) and end the year at a solid Nebraska. Im thinking 9-3 is probably but 10-2 will get them into the top 10 and theres a shot at that IMO.

I think GT and Texas are the 2 best bets though.

I would guess that the number of those is much higher... probably at least 10 per year
