Personally I think Matt Kemp will come back and stay healthy (at least I hope so) and will have a beast year. Am I being too optimistic about Matt? My thing is the guy is only 29 and in his prime and he has a lot to prove this year.

It is pretty tough to predict what Kemp will do this Season. The ankle injury is not an easy one to recover from and I suspect he will lose some quickness on the base paths and in the OF as a result. I do think his hitting prowess will return to an acceptable level, but I'm not sure he will come back as the 2011 version.

What I think the Dodgers should consider doing is to sign, acquire via trade or develop a new CF and move Kemp to one of the OF corner spots. It will give him less ground to cover and keep him healthier, in my opinion.

Let's hope for the best and keep our fingers crossed that he can stay healthy.

I don't think you're being too optimistic. You're being a fan in March/April. This is how you're supposed to feel.

But yeah, I think he'll have a strong year. Maybe not threaten to go 40/40 or anything, but whenever he gets back, if he can avoid getting hurt again, he should be very productive. I won't be surprised to see 30+ home runs from Kemp if he gets back before May.

I tend to agree with your thoughts. My main concern is Kemp staying Healthy. If he is healthy then I feel like he will produce and show he can be as good as he was in 2011.

Why the hell does Matt Kemp want to play a position he sucks at. His defense is just not the same, sad to say.

The depth he adds to the outfield has been needed. Crawford has been banged up a little this year, but if he is hellbent on playing CF then we might have to let him go.

Kemp > Ethier; Kemp > Crawford

Ethier has 2 errors in the past 3 seasons. Kemp has 4 in CF this year alone and he stopped playing CF a while ago. Kemp has the worst DWAR of any Dodger this season.

I'm a huge Kemp fan and I still believe he can get back on track with the bat but he's clearly lost a step, and shouldn't be demanding to play CF

With Van Slyke and Joc waiting in the wings, I have no issue with moving Kemp. Not like Van Slyke strikes out any more than Kemp. Plus, he hits for power which Kemp does not do anymore and he's considerably cheaper.

Matt Kemp would be open to trade if not playing everyday

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a crowded outfield, and if that gets in the way of Matt Kemp playing every day he would be open to a trade.

The outfielder's agent, former major league pitcher Dave Stewart, said that Kemp wants to be an everyday center fielder and if the Dodgers cannot make that happen, Kemp would be open to a trade, according to a report from FoxSports.com.

"Whatever they want to do we're favorable to, as long as it gives him an opportunity to play every day," Stewart told FoxSports.com. "He'd like to eventually go back to center field. He's not opposed to right or left. But his hope at some point is to get back to center."

The Dodgers removed Kemp from center field for defensive reasons at the end of May. Carl Crawford injured his left ankle on May 28, and Kemp has been the everyday left fielder ever since. Kemp is batting .269 with eight home runs and 35 RBI this season.

Hearing rumblings about the Red Sox pursuing Kemp, they seem to think he'd perform well in Fenway and I don't disagree. Jon Lester is having a nice year and getting rid of a good bit of salary would be nice.

What do you guys think?

Rather keep kemp. If he gets hot big ups for us. If he does not we can always trade him in the offseason.
