I dont think people back in the early 1900's knew English. Reading papers that far back is amazing how weird they talked back then

I love how the omaha paper seemed surprised that rooters for the team came 400 strong. Of course, they didn't have cars back then.
But there were trains. My Uncle used to tell me that he would get tickets to a Nebraska football game, train ride to and from Lincoln out of Omaha, and a sammich/drink all for a couple bucks back in the day. That was before facemasks and sech.
