Playoff Flopping Fines

Last night should see a couple warnings and/or fines going out...unless the league quit with that.


My list off the top of my head is Lance (x2), LBJ, George and Rio (x2).

George said he blacked out after this, saying that kind of confirms he is not very smart.

The league needs to look at IND's concussion protocol as this is not their first issue.

If he is just making shit up to sound tough or give an excuse for his shitty night not very smart.

Stephenson has been fined $5k for flopping last night.

This makes the second straight playoff series vs the Heat in which Stephenson was fined for flopping.

That wasn't a flop, West didn't shove him but LBJ didn't fall under the chairs because he was flopping. 270 pounds moving doesn't just stop.


There was another though against West when he was running along the line by the benches and fell out when he got close to West and West never touched him. I think it was West's 3rd.

Yeah, this wasn't a flop. Regardless of what happens after the foul (LeBron landing awkwardly then springing forward - I don't think West even touched him at that point), the foul had already happened. The refs got it right by not calling it a flagrant, but who would argue that it wasn't a foul at all?

IMO, the league hasn't and shouldn't fine for "flops" that occur during an actualfoul. The egregious flops are those that occur in the presence of very little contact, or no contact at all, and certainly no foul. (like Lance's).

As for West's 3rd foul, it looked like a good call on him running through the legal screen. I can't remember who was setting the screen, but the foul was committed on that player, not LeBron, I thought.

He flopped to get the call but I have seen a lot less called there and a lot more not called.

Exactly. Lebron just landed awkwardly on that one and as you point out, 270 pounds doesn't stop on a dime, especially when it's falling.

The other one that you described was the classic Lebron flop.

yeah.. I can't defend anyone on the Celtics and say they don't flop. They might not make it as obvious as other players but they certainly do flop.

and yes during the post season a few years ago Paul Pierce did "flop" and fake an injury to miraculously come back and spark the Cs.
