Personally, I'd be pissed if my coach said that. Just makes Pitino look like a fool.

Personally I find it funny, everyone on the team probably got a kick out of it

Poor choice of words, and the timing makes it a little worse, but all in all I'd say it's nothing to get in a twist about.

Yeah he probably worded it poorly but it's not a huge deal. I'm sure teammates make white guy jokes amongst themselves all the time.

Yeah, a buddy of mine used to refer to that situation (lot of white guys on the floor) as a "Caucasian Violation" which is probably slightly less appropriate but much funnier.

Everyone except for those "4 white guys" and the "Egyptian?" :noidea:

"Damn suckas, coach just called you out..." That'd be my feeling. It's different when it comes from fellow players and teammates, imo. Language in general is just different. But I was never referred to by the color of my skin or nationality, by any of my coaches, in any sport. My coaches all seemed to possess more integrity.

No, nothing to get too worked up over but just enough to say, wtf coach?

Same here. It was always "fat ass" or "horse shit" but never white guy.

In general I agree with your sentiments but in this particular case I think most of the players in question probably realize what the score was, and I mean that literally and figuratively. The only time most of them are going to see the floor is during a blowout.

This isn't a big deal. A buddy of mine who is Black always would remark at a stupid white guy play as "Master Race" and just shake his head. It was a whole lot funnier than it was ever offensive.

Once in high school, I was pulling on a play, and my coach said I looked like "an overweight Chinaman rounding the bend".

I never got it, cause I looked nothing like a China man.

edit: that was football, sorry forgot I was in BB forum :L

Not a great choice of words, but I don't think he was being intentionally derogatory or insulting to his players. Just kind of a, "coach said what?" moment.

We started four White guys last year and we made it further than Pitino.
