Morton gave us another very strong start. 7 innings, and the 7th seemed especially comfortable. No one really centered the ball up off of him today.

Stolmy's going to need some more action before he's ready to get back into his role, I think. He's out of options, though, isn't he?

I'm pretty sure he is, maybe he can have a calf strain or something :D

Btw Worley is starting tommorow, if he has his mojo back, it would be huge.

Vance was pitching very well in AAA, so that's encouraging. Henderson Alvarez is a tough mound opponent, though. He's been very good this year. I'm glad we were able to win the series today at least.

Stolmy will be better with a consistent chance to either relieve regularly or start.
This year has been a very tough rhythm for him as used sparingly. lots of days off between action.
we have watson for 7th, melancon for 8th, and grilli for 9th. if pimentel can be replace wilson and get the consistent 6th or 7th, and move watson to 8th and 9th to groom watson for closer role next year when grilli gone, that would be a better consistency for stormy to show what he has.

grilli isn't our closer of the future and neither is melancon. melancon is great in the 8th.
watson looks like he could be a closer.
hughes and stolmy in the 7th and wilson in low pressure when we are down 2+.

amazing how we are getting some nice starts from morton, locke, volquez and one i think from cumpton.
don't need a much relief when these guys get into and thru the 7th regularly.

Alvarez has some kind of changeup. That thing dives.

Jay Hay does it again!

We're putting some pretty good swings on Alvarez.

Polanco looks awkward when he sprints, but he gets places in a hurry.

Hopefully, the bullpen can lock this one down today.

That's hard luck for Watson. If Pedro just makes a decent throw, no one scores.

Pedro should have three errors today, but the Miami scorer has been generous.

Cannot fail to score with the bases loaded and no outs.

Bullpen blowups this weekend, was it as bad as the box scores indicated?

The first two nights, yes. Yesterday, Watson probably gets through unscathed with a good throw from Pedro on the first batter of the inning. McGehee was the only one who hit the ball hard off of Watson, and he struck out two. It was just an "infield single," a squibber though the left side, and that double.

I do think Stolmy's outing had a lot to do with it being his first outing since the injury, though.
