Pick the Podium: IndyCar - Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, 2016

The boys are down south this week at a track that nearly everyone likes. Hunter-Reay has had good success at this track. We shall see how things pan out for the next "tune-up" race before the big one in May.

Hunter-Reay is fourth in the first practice. Munoz is in the top three. Maybe Andretti Autosport may have a good weekend.

This is interesting. Foyt Racing takes the top two spots in the combined practice with Sato and Hawksworth, 1,2 followed by Hinchcliffe. All of the regulars are in the back of the field. Another variable to muddle up the picture for choosing you podium picks.

Rahal

Pagenaud, Power, Newgarden and Dixon take the top four spots in qualifying. Pagenaud appears to be going for two-in-a-row.

Dangit. I might have nailed the podium if not for Dixon getting punted in turn 5.

Heck of a finish for Rahal. That car had to suck to handle. And I must admit I expected Graham to come out of that with a penalty. Yeah, Simon blocked, but that is not a corner you can pass on normally. Simon did a great job keeping that thing in one piece. Sucks for Rahal that two laps later he just misjudged a guy who was trying to get out of the way.


And Munoz has no business being on a track. Ever. Punted two guys before the green even waved.
