Didn't they have a deal in place with Madsen? I guess they rescinded that offer. That is a boatload of money for someone who isn't 100% reliable. I'd rather have Madsen. I don't think the Phils have the brightest bunch. They could have kept the Cardinals out of the playoffs. Thankfully, they decided otherwise.
lol Lidge's days as "the closer" are behind him gentlemen. His sole responsibility (just like it was with Madson) will be as the set up man. To ask him to do anything more than that would be ridiculous.

Not mention, out of the 21 closers with 25+ saves in 2014, he was 3rd in WHIP and 4th in OPS against (arguably the two best stats for evaluating relievers)....I'd still say that's top reliever material.
