Yeah, freakin crapola. But this will continue for the rest of the year. The Phils need two slugging outfielders and two solid hitting guys at ss and 2nd base. It's not clear that both Asche and Bourjos will be here in August, and if only one is gone, then Altherr will be the guy we'll be looking at. I doubt if Williams will be called up until September along with others in the expanded roster.
Altherr, after 41 games in the majors: .232 .327 .472; 8 years in the minors .263/.325/.414, and a whopping 7 homers a year. He did hit .294 in partial years at Reading and LVH. I'm not excited, but, as they say, who knows.
Yea, I hear ya, jvett. It doesn't have to be so slow but with the imbecilic front office that was in place for the last 5-7 years, the depth of incompetence and continual depth of crappy players were more extensive than probably the new FO realized. This falls at the feet of the owner who let this club go into a deep shithole. WE are making slow strides out and indeed we are further ahead than Atlanta.
