Tell you what, with how chippy this game has become, maybe not a bad rivalry choice after all.

No argument with that call. Yeah, he held your stick, Couts. Once you started hooking him.

Congrats on the win.

Thanks - lot of respect for the Wings, even without some of their top guys, they still have so much skill and make it difficult on opposing teams

The Wings need to learn how to manage their responsibilities in their own end, especially the forwards. Some of these guys seem to be quite confused as to what to do far too often, especially when the play goes down low. It's not rocket science; you've got to match up when someone gets into the higher scoring areas. Today, we played with a purpose for 35 of the 60 minutes; that's unacceptable. I'm not trying to put the blame on anyone in particular about this debacle because it's ultimately a team responsibility to fix these things, but some of our players just seem to make too many dumb choices too many times during a game - Kindl and Samuelsson, in particular.

If it weren't for the first two or last five words, this would describe the Flyers as well. Seems really hard to put a complete 60 minute effort together night in and night out. Seems even rarer for two clubs to do so against one another.

Good luck out there, Detroit. Kick New Jersey's pants off.

From my perspective, in particular a coaching one, I always hope for, but seldom expect, a team to be a 60-minute monster - no team is. But, IMO, talent aside, the Red Wings managed their own zone (for the last few minutes of the 2nd period and for much of the 3rd period) similar to the level of an average high school team last night. In a word, "exposed" defined it. In comparison, it would be quite a stretch to say this was similarly characteristic of the Flyers at that time. At least they found a way to cash in on a couple of PP opportunities. I would go so far as to say that, if we were able to allow the Wings to have had a few 5-on-2s last night, the results would have been similar. It's obvious from observing them so many times on the PP, that some of them haven't a clue as to how to improve scoring opportunities. It has gotten to the point that their management skills are quite comical. Kindl is notorious for shooting at the attacker who is moving out near the point - that seems to be his usual option, and Sammy, invariably, will turn the puck over, as though it will add to his bonus package, which we all know doesn't exist. Sending the puck down low on the PP for the Wings has only one purpose for them - to draw the defender in the middle and the winger on the strong side to back in a bit, so that they can return a pass to the dman for another shot into somebody's body. Unfortunately, that play, for them, is exclusive for that purpose only, and every team in the NHL knows it; that's one of the reasons why so many teams are successful against the Wings' PP. The puck movement has no immediacy and the players provide little movement. They simply allow the opposition to have time to position themselves in the passing and shooting lanes. There is, at times, a resemblance to a garden of statues. Watch other teams' PPs, there is hardly a sign of mortar anywhere.
