I genuinely disliked Brady Hoke since his hiring at Michigan. I don't like his attitude and demeanor on the sidelines, I cant stand his arrogant way of not wearing a headset.

BUT.......

The dude earned all the respect in the world from me on going for the win on that 2 pt conversion. That was awesome and took a lot of guts. Bravo Hoke, bravo. and GREAT game by the Wolverines.

I now like Brady Hoke.

agreed

but the play call stunk

it was a bad read by Gardner. I think had he thrown it to the back corner a bit he had that other WR coming around and would have been open. Play call might not have been bad, just a bad read and throw by Gardner.

Michigan needs to recruit better upfront on the defensive line. That is one thing Carr always did well.

I will play devil's advocate here ... you are at home with the crowd behind you. You have to play for overtime. If he were at OSU, I get it. Not at home.

Calling the same exact play after the time out was a terrible call by Hoke. That was a high school coaching mistake. It's like calling a time out before running a fake punt.

I agree with you if Michigan wasn't 7-5. Really nothing to lose. I liked the call.

Uh, the score would have been tied. That would mean that Michigan had scored as many as OSU. Home field advantage says you go for the tie and win or lose in OT.

but they were getting shredded on defense and weren't quite as successful on offense (needed some breaks and big plays)

home field--who cares?

Pretty standard rule in that situation is that you go for it away, get the tie and go to OT away.

As an LSU fan, you really mean it when you say that about home field advantage?

Anyway, we can just disagree. I'm cool with that.

but where does that standard rule come from? (i've heard it, just don't necessarily think it outweighs the problems in this situation)

the Big House was pretty much 50/50 with Buckeyes today anyway

I agree that you go for the tie at home in baseball, but it's not like TTUN would have been guaranteed the last "at bat", so to speak.

When it depends on a coin flip, I just don't see it in football.

OTOH, I really liked the call. Gutsy. Congrats on a great game.

i don't really see why the emphasis is on home/away here

No way it was 50/50 ... if so, shame on Michigan fans. Can someone confirm this?
