Game Thread: Penguins GDT/GNT's week 5 (Nov 3 - Nov 9)

Pens are coming off a superb week going 3-0!

This week we got 3 road games,

Nov 4 @ Minnesota Wild
Nov 6 @ Winnipeg Jets
Nov 8 @ Buffalo Sabres

Wild have been playing really well this season and they've traditionally had our number. I expect this to be our toughest game this week.

Jets are coming off back to back shutouts against the Rangers and Blackhawks. Wouldn't underestimate these guys.

Sabres beat the Red Wings in a shootout today after losing to us 5-0 the other night. Maybe these guys aren't so bad after all?

I was stunned that the Sabres beat the Wings. I think the Pens will beat them, but it wont be anywhere near like the 5 - 0 shutout. Jets are playing good defense, but I think the Pens can overcome them. Now that Disco Dan is gone maybe Yoe won't be able to anticipate what the Pens are going to do.

I think the Wild will give us the biggest problem.

Doob's take: both teams come into this game on hot streaks, Pens have won 4 in a row, Wild have won 3 in a row. I expect a closely contested game with both goalies keeping the score down. Both MAF & Darcy Kuemper lead the league with 3 shutouts each. Doobster picks the Pens to win 3-2.

Yeah, I would guess it's just to get Greiss a go. Don't want your backup just collecting dust all season in case you need him and want him to be sharp.

Maybe the change in goalies is what the Dr. ordered, as I mentioned, that Fleury was 0-5 against the Wild. Not sure if Greiss has faced them before.

Went on hockey-reference & checked his game logs. I guess he's 1-2 against the Wild in his career.

Bronziak or whatever, that was not a kosher move. Starting a fight with Despres when he wasn't aware, pulling off Despres's helmet while he was wearing his own visor, and he got the expected and deserved extra two.

Make them pay and bury this game.
