SOOO what are we gonna do? We have nobody in the minors that we would like to see come up the only sensible guy thats already on the 40 man roster is Mike Montgomery. Think we should be brave and call up hultzen?

Shut down for two weeks means a lot longer then two weeks. The theory is two days rehab for every day off. Means it's likely 6 weeks minimum. What are we gonna do? Probably nothing.

Speaking of Montgomery, Ramirez pitched 7 shutout innings for Rays today. I still like the trade, but it just swapped one pitcher for another when we needed to add pitching. I guess not re-signing Young was a big mistake though I wanted an upgrade.

I still like the trade too. Ramirez has been mostly awful before today. Plus he would have just been DFAD anyway. They were an arm short with young last year. Happ essentially replaced Young so they didn't really add anyone. But I know I'm preaching to the choir

Amen! Seriously though, how does Jack not know this going in? We were in position to have 3 pitchers with options so signing a real free agent pitcher would not have hurt us. Even for Jack, this is a head scratcher.

Cause it's Jack. He praised himself enough last year for the bullpen and his guys were finally ready to be horses of the rotation even though they went into the season with one reliable starter. It is a head scratcher because even shittier GM's don't go into the season with a rotation with one guy.
