:burt:

Cameron has been more of a problem than Mac, IMO.

This could get really ugly.

All I can say is that Cameron better play the young players who are earning it out there.

I don't really care about the results this year.

I think MacLean deserved a little bit more rope but meh. Either things really improve and they fight for the playoffs or they get a high pick in a great draft.

To be fair (yep), I believe Jacques' contract was up after his first stint with the Devils and he didn't re-sign.

@darenmillard: @Senators GM Bryan Murray says Paul Macleans comments on Saturday did not sit well with him. Handling of young defence wasn't positive

Maybe, but maybe if he was given a team that didn't necessitate playing Clarke MacArthur on the first line or trade one of the game's best goalies for a rookie who had a hot streak, he would have them a little further up in the standings.

I place this on Murray far more than I do Walrusface.

Exactly !!! He has maybe 4 Players total that could play anywhere to coach.

Sens aren't that bad of a team - they might not have superstar forwards but they're all pretty solid - they just need a strong defensive defenseman or two that can help take pressure off the goalie

I fear they may go right down the crapper for a while now.

Meh I think they'll be okay if they can develop some of these guys - I like Curtis Lazar and Mike Hoffman a lot and I think if they can find a d-man in FA or trade that can help them it should make them a better team

They've been missing their 2nd most important D-man for all but two games. They are the youngest team in the league and they should be a bubble team, IMO. The top 4 on the blueline looks not too bad. Ceci-Cowen is looking like a really solid pairing for the next 10 years. The problem has been that insted of playing them, Phillips has been trotted out there constantly. Ceci is going to be a beauty.

Methot-Karlsson has proven to be a pretty good top pairing.

They lack a top end first line. Maybe Zibanejad starts living up to the potential he showed last night (on a consistent basis) and they get a first line from within. Like you said they have some good young guys like Lazar, Hoffman, Stone (not totally sold here), Zibs, etc.

My concern NOW is that I don't think Cameron is a legit NHL coach. I think he has a strong chance of crashing and burning. I see no way they sniff the playoffs with this guy running the team. I guess we'll just have to wait and see though.

I think it's probably a good thing they hired him - they can see what they got in him - if he gets this team going then he looks real good, if not, they get a high pick and can get a better coach in next season to implement the system they're looking for, when those young guys have another year of experience under their belts

True enough. Not much to lose for a team that was never going to in the Cup this year. If they compete it's good experience, if not they get a good player near the top of the draft.

I just hope that Cameron lets the kids play.

The franchise suffers greatly from the gathering Squat-tawa puerility and udder buffoonery. Smoke and mirrors - lying and cheating - spending like drunken sailors on whore-leave abounds in the place of common sense and reason. The smart and intelligent are very lonely people in that town, and it has been that way for a long, long time.

Bottom line is Karlsson doesn't like playing his position - good luck to anyone who tries to coach this team now.

He did coach the Juniors before, so maybe he'll be more youthfully-inclined. It can't all come internally, though. They need at least one first liner, at least one improvement on defence and a goalie.

Hate to be the guy to say it, but I don't know if Murray's up to this health-wise.
