Big win for the Panthers - it seems like since the coaching change, they've gotten a jolt of energy and have looked better - I guess that's the case for every team that has a new coach early on, we'll see if they sustain that

Tim Thomas was stellar though, good goaltending can always make a team look better

holy shit - ZERO shots for the Nucks in the last 12:26 of regulation.
that's embarrassing.

The subject of "playing down to your opposition" came up on another thread. No team over the past few years has done a better job of that than the Canucks

Torts was fuming at the team. said that the canucks disrespected the panthers and that is unacceptable.

Im very glad he sees their arrogance. Its been too long an attitude.

this team needs a shakeup.... so does Montreal. Send Burrows there. :D

For Gallagher?

I kind of joke about Burrows but he seems most logical and that would REALLY open the eyes of his buddies on this team. I dont think he has a NTC and If he did I could see him waiving it for Montreal. I say Montreal as that really is the best place for him for his skills, what they need and the fact he is french that would go over very well with the fan base.

I do fully believe this team needs a REAL shakeup I said it the last 2 years and its way past time to make it. the core needs a refresh before its too late.

What would the Canucks want in return from the Habs for Burrows?

That Im not sure. I honestly would want some youth back but that doesnt help us today. if we add a prospect maybe we can get Brendan Gallagher.

Burrows and Schroeder for Gallagher and something (salary player to balance burrows)?

I havent really given it much thought Im more for the shakeup and hope gillis doesnt throw things away and get David Booth type players

Reporter: "What did you think of the play of Tim Thomas?"
Torts: "I'm not going to comment on a player on their team, why would I do that?"

Oh he mad.

Burrows has a NTC as per cap geek

and ive heard that they are not going to ask players with NTC's this season to waive them because they think it will really effect them come this summer when they have money to spend on free agents (looks bad)

as an aside I saw others tweet about it last night ... during the second intermission, did Gilman basically say they would have bought Booth out this past summer if he wasnt injured?

I don't think you're getting Brendan Gallagher - him and Galchenyuk work great together

canucks currently have a team pdo of 0.986 (bottom 10 in the league right now)

the last time they had a sub 1.000 PDO was the year 2000

if advanced stats are to believed ... they will get better lol

pdo = team save% plus team shooting%

canucks have been above 1.000 since the year 2000 ... Their current teamshooting % is very low ... statistically as the season progresses and the sample size grows, it will eventually revert to the mean thereby increasing the pdo number

ie things will get better

/and things will get worse for the Leafs (they currently have the highest PDO ... it was sky high 2 weeks ago ... almost 1980's Oiler high)

//thats what the fancy stats guys say anyways ... their most celebrated prediction of PDO was a couple of years back when Minnesota was leading the Northwest 2 months into the season and "they" all said Minnesota was due for a huge drop in the standings because their PDO was off the charts high and would decrease ... that they werent going to sustain it ... and they were right ... the wild couldnt
