'Yall hearing anything about this?

He just won the Frank Broyles award.

Sonny Cumbie, co OC at TCU, interviewed at Texas (from Leach coaching tree) and now Gilbert from Tulsa (Briles coaching tree) is interviewing at Texas.

Makes me think, one of them is going to OU, one to Texas.

Hearing anything?

No. He's not going. He was very close to Ruffin, and I doubt he'd answer the phone to do anything, but tell them kick rocks. Taking that job would be a step back. If he stays at Oklahoma 1-2 more years, he'll have a legit power 5 team calling.

I had not heard anything like that, but with these other two coordinators interviewing, Riley to ECU seemed like a natural progression.

The RB coach at TT is going to Bowling Green- he was the coach at Cibolo Steele HS in TX.

Cumbie and Gilbert interviewed at Texas.

Cumbie is Leach guy, so would fit in at OU if Riley leaves.

I would be pretty surprised if Riley took the ECU job.

After what ECU did to Ruffin anyone would be nuts to take that job. Rumor is he turned down a contract extension because it low balled his assistances (not him) and was actually a breach of his current contract so Ruffin wouldn't sign and got fired for it.

Who in their right mind would take a job a school that is going screw over your coaches?

Cumbie turned down Texas, looks like Sterlin Gilbert it is. Which is ok, since Cumbie's prefered RB coach Mike Jinks got the head coaching job at Bowling green.

No way in hell he takes the ECU job. As others have said, Ruffin is almost like family to Lincoln. Just don't see it happening.

I wondered about Cumbie: he wanted to make changes and not have to work on Sundays because of church (word is CS okay'd it, I mean they just look at film on Sundays); that he does not like the spotlight (geez, Austin OC might be a bad idea?) and also worried CS only has a year left.

He also does not call plays, so that may or may not have been a concern. He probably saw how Watson got chewed up and spit out, and decided Co OC at TCU is a safer bet.

Your info is 100% correct on all four of these. Plus he really likes Patterson...but he liked KK at Tech too so that may not be as big of a drag in leaving as thought.

Riley is looking at a 850k-1mill salary right now as the OC.

Not sure he will want to leave until Baker graduates.

yeah, I read Patterson likes CS and told Cumbie to go interview. Guess in the in end it didnt fit.

But I'm interested in the Riley situation, because he's a hot commodity right now. Winning the Broyles award and going to the CFP, thinking some people are going to be after him in the next year to be HC. If Stoops is still around, I can see him (Cumbie) going to Soonerville

Seth Littrell is the new North Texas coach...

When Bob decides to leave, I hope we have many options of these younger guise to take the reins.

I graduated from HS with Cumbie's dad. I'd be surprised if he went to OU. But, at some point he'll have to leave TCU. It will probably be for an ideal situation for him and his family. He's a very grounded young man and a solid individual. He won't just go chasing the $$$.

I don't know why Texas would go for someone who never had any experience calling plays.
