You are about to be stranded on a desert island for 5 years. You do not have your computer, ipod, itunes, cell phone or any other mp3 playing device. All you have is your music collection in a stack of cd's (was going to be stack of vinyl, but these kids today would just scratch them to hell), a generator that runs on salt water, and a boom box with cd player that has the radio part broken... you need your hands to row to shore, your pocket only holds 5 disks without the case...

What 5 are you grabbing?
(only 5, and two disk sets count as two, so choose carefully)

Clutch "Clutch"
Bob Marley "Kaya"
Pearl Jam "Ten"
REM "Murmur"
Sublime "Sublime"

was gonna make it ten... but screw it, that's too easy. I rattled off 20 off the top of my head, narrowed down to 13 easy enough, made a few hard choice, but those last few cuts are TOUGH. Gotta figure.. What can i listen to over and over for years without getting tired of it. Had to be timeless, had to be classic, had to mean something to me from growing up...

My answers/cuts surprised me too.

in no particular order

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies (tough call, cuz it's an EP)
Black Sabbath - We Sold our Souls for Rock 'n' Roll (make up for it with a double album)
The Afghan Whigs - Gentlemen. awesome fucking album
Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East
The Cure - Disintegration

ask me tomorrow and I'll have a different answer (probably with Exile on Main St on it)

Mmhmmm- Relient K (good band, best CD they've had)
Eric Hutchinson- Sounds Like This (good mix of uppity and mellow music)
Jack Johnson- In Between Dreams (this was very tough people...very tough to choose between his collection)
hard choice for the last one...between Newsboys (christian band) or Michael Buble (i'm a lady...don't judge!)

Well, I can see why you would ask that since 8-track players probably take up too much electricity for the generator.
