Excerpt

The Scot McCloughan era Washington Redskins have not had many pre-draft visits leaked or reported so far this year. Oregon QB Marcus Mariota reportedly had a visit lined up at some point, and the Redskins reportedly worked out Houston DL Joey Mbu. That's it, that's the news that is out there for now. Miami OT Ereck Flowers reportedly told NFL.com's Gil Brandt that he has several pre-draft visits lined up for next week, including one to Ashburn to meet with the Redskins.

Interesting. This means that a trade back could be coming or Flowers could last until the 2nd round when we pick. What is good about this news is that we are not in love with Scherff at #5.

I don't know how you can draw that conclusion. We are allowed 30 visits. This isxduecdiligence and being prepared. For all we know, Scherff may not be there when we pick. You never know what's going to happen in the draft, especially with Oakland picking before you.

cmon jy19. I will bet anything that Scherff is not a top 4 pick. If we really loved Scherff this is a wasted visit. Use the visits for guys in the 2- 5 rounds. Oak is taking a WR or trading down. It should be Winston, Williams, and Fowler. Pick #4 should be interesting. I believe that MM and one of the Wr will still be on the board when we pick. So we should have plenty of offers to trade down.

Hey Dean Im going to make your dinner do flip flops real quick. Suppose he isnt looking at Flowers as a trade down option, but as some one he might trade back UP into the first round to get after he took Scherff at #5??

Sweet dreams. :)

lol. That comment was worst than someone trading up for Scherff in the top 10.

I really don't put much stock in whom the team brings in for personal workouts. We see teams take players they haven't worked out all the time and pass on those they do.

Never said it was probable. But as sick as it would make you to your tummy, it is POSSIBLE.

AS much as I believe you are correct that nobody is taking him in the top 4......But it only takes 1 team to fall in love with him, to pull the trigger...Lets say for fun....NY Giants want him bad...and are worried we will take at #5 based on oline need...and they dont want to face him 2 times a year.....they could and I stress could (not saying they would or it would be smart...but could) pull a trigger on a trade to move ahead of us......

There are no certanties in the draft until the pick is announced....so i would think the prudent thing for a team to do....is....be as prepared as possible for any and all situations

I wouldn't mind drafting him. He seems like an ideal fit for the offense.

Flowers is an interesting prospect. Great size and skill but he needs work on his footwork and in pass pro. But we have one of the best in the business coaching offensive lineman now so it may work.

Yeah not sure how this proves they are not in love with Scherff at 5. I still maintain they are not but not because they are looking at Flowers.

IF we were in love with Sherff why would they bring Flowers in for a visit? Doenst make sense. Sure anything can happen but you guys have to read in between the lines.

who said anyone was in love with anyone . why wouldnt the redskins explore other options if they traded down or sherf was gone or willaims fell to them

IM also wondering why it would be out of the realm of the possible that the Skins go after both guys?? Likely, probably not. Impossible?? Not really.

That would be great under the right circumstances. There are, however, a couple of things to consider. First, the Redskins somehow think there's nothing wrong with the RG spot. The only thing I can think of to justify that view is that they've got a lot of confidence in Long. I can't fathom why they think that in Chester. He must have some goat pictures on Snyder or something to be hanging around here, especially where cutting him would clear $4M in cap space. Second, all the OTs in the draft are left tackles. We'll be drafting them to play right tackle. That transition can be a bit treacherous, though I'm not sure what, if any, impact that factor will have in evaluating folks like Flowers.

Here's a scenario where Tandler speculates that Ereck is the selection

Excerpt

But let’s say they do trade back and end up somewhere between the 10th and 15th pick in the first round and that they do have taking a tackle in mind. Who would McCloughan take? There are likely to be some good choices on the board and maybe one or two good ones who will be gone by the time the Redskins’ pick comes along.

quick feet, that is the reason i like flowers. every analyst keeps saying that. one big problem with moses was he didnt have quick feet so he couldnt handle the speed. i dont think scherff has the foot speed to play tackle either but i think he can be a pro bowl guard so i wouldnt mind him at 5. back to flowers, with the proper coaching which we now have, flowers can be really good for us. i still hope we trade back. i like flowers and peat.
