Dead might be an understatement.

Yep, a tough schedule to start the season. If we can stay within a handful of game of .500 during that stretch, I think we will be alright. The end of May through June is a really light part of the schedule.

Nice to win the first game... Pitching is shaky, but hitting is working.

BTW, Bumgardner two HR... wow!

What a game, what a comeback! Definitely worried about that BP.

First opening game win since 2013. Can we please stop playing the Giants to open the season?!

Love the enthusiasm from Lovullo. He was just like a player after the game.

Weird game, I never thought we were going win it through the whole game.

I felt like the win was a gift, but I'll take it.

I'll change this to a series thread. With the final four tomorrow the next game is on Tuesday.

Basically the same lineup as Sunday with Peralta moving to the two hole against RHP. Torey is sticking with the hot hitting Mathis instead of one of the other catchers. Having a day off probably made the decision easier.

Opening day payroll was $93,120,200. If the BP performs, that could reach around $100 mil due to incentives for the cheap BP labor.

Also, Evan Marshall was claimed by the Mariners. Best of luck to him.

Are the Diamondbacks ever going to have good pitching again? This is insane. The franchise had so many great pitchers between 1998-2011. Multiple Cy Young award winners. Great relief pitchers. What happened?

It's an inside out mentality that takes a while to change. For the past decade or so being a Diamondback means being a part of a mediocre team with mediocre support. That leaks into the clubhouse. It takes a while to change that perception. I think the Lovullo hire is a giant step in the right direction. He could be a long term skipper for us. I really like his mindset and attitude early on.

Welcome back. Hopefully this summer is more enjoyable for us fans than last summer.

Like @The Derski said, expect for this to take a few years. Sucks that you guys had to take a step back and rehire for a shitty mistake in the first place, but I think AZ always has potential. You guys have shown that you can go as far as your organization lets you, which is not something I can say for half the league (and maybe the Dodgers?). Anyway, I'm living in PHX for a while and so I'm looking forward to getting back to the ballpark more than I have in the last few years.
