One thing I don't understand about Ohio State's offense

How do they get away with that clap before every snap without defenses jumping the snap? It is pee wee style of snaps where Miller claps his hands and the snap is a half second later every time. Why doesn't a d tackle bull rush in right after that?

Well sometimes they snap on the first clap sometimes the third. But I see what you're saying.

Braxton does cause it is easier for the OLine to hear the snap called on the road in loud environments.

1) Clapping is not the snap count. It is a signal to the center that he is ready. He fake claps and sometimes claps twice.

2) The center calls the snap count.

But it is predictable. I think a team like Michigan that can't stop them anyway would take the chance of getting a break on the ball and causing a turnover. If u get a few encroachments that is worth the risk.

It really isn't. I know you think it is, but it isn't which is why the defense doesn't tee off on it.

Can you explain to me

A) how it is not predictable when the snap is .5 seconds after the clap every time and the first clap is used 90 percent of the time?

B) no other teams use that strategy, at least not any major teams in college or pros.

Many other teams use this strategy. (No, I don't have a list, but am sure, for instance, that I saw Nebraska doing the same thing yesterday).

It isn't always 0.5 seconds after which is why teams don't tee off on it. Ohio State has done the same thing for 2 years under Urban Meyer and no defense has done what you suggest, so if someone is confused, I'm pretty sure it's you.

It's essentially the same thing you see when another teams quarterback lift his leg up, same thing.

I think if it was as predictable as you think it is defenses would be teeing off on it more.

I watched the Nebraska game. I didn't see it.

I think teams don't wanna risk the penalty. I think it is worth the risk though when the defense isn't working. But I guess coaches do t wanna be unorthodox.
