on appeal, bowl ban upheld for 2018. Things are back to normal in recruiting now. There really is no reason to follow the rules.

Maybe they watched them play Alabama and thought that was punishment enough?

Why even bother with sanctions anymore ? They just get reduced or rescinded altogether

If anyone deserves to be punished it was Ole Miss. But hey, they upheld the punishment to Notre Dame because a tutor took a few tests.

There were issues with the case where the NCAA made some very unwise decisions by granting immunity to Miss State players for testimony. It got pretty sleazy and Old Miss lawyers nailed the NCAA to the wall.

The NCAA is its own worst enemy.

Also don't forget not all sanctions were lifted as they have already self imposed penalties and were under sanctions for the 2017 recruiting season. Basically they got an early release for the 2018 recruiting sanctions but the post season ban stayed in place.

They aren't getting off unscathed.

Agreed, but then again it's Ole Miss. They're gonna suck with or without sanctions.

The Bowl Ban being upheld for this season is a pretty big deal.

Npw there are two schools that will not be allowed in Bowl Games.
Liberty, which is in a transition year and Ole Miss. Liberty, if there
aren't enough teams bowl eligible could be selected with 6 wins
though. Ole Miss cannot be.

The issue was it became clear that Ole Miss wasn’t the only shady actor in that LBs recruitment. They backed off, because they had 0 interest in the domino effect

I agree with you.

However making the claim that all sanctions were removed is misleading as they were punished pretty substantially before any sanctions were removed. It's not like they off free and clear and the program is going to take at least 5 years to get back to where they were if they can even do it (which I doubt).

They were dumb enough to fire Cutcliffe. They deserve to have misfortune heaped upon them until cowbells are banned in Davis Wade Stadium.

Team 121 was 2017 (4-8, 0-8, a program low for UT). The trash can was tossed out with Lyle. Maybe you should stick to touch up painting the rosettes on Ohio Stadium.
Serious question, will Tennessee be bowl eligible this year?
