one of the core issues? its pretty much is and or was the core issue.
Politics were involved but i was told not to blame everything on politics.

It actually wasn’t. It was about state’s rights to govern themselves. Slavery was the moral reason Lincoln used to perception later on (and a good reason it was). US Grant actually kept slaves to tend to his home while he was away fighting the civil war.

I read an article that quoted governors at the time in denouncing Washington and the union.. they were all doing it because of slavery. They depended on it too much and did not want to pay poor whites to do what a slave can do.. It was a disturbing read homie.
