Good luck.

I did that awhile ago. I don't drink or smoke; It was always sugar.

Kinda surprised I didn't get diabetes.

You can't really quit sugar all together. I'd err on the side of doing it slowly. When you get to cutting soda, one thing that really helped me was starting to brew my own tea (packaged tea is loaded with sugar). It made the caffeine withdrawal non existent. Are you planning on giving up starches?

Im on diet cokes now and have been for 10 years - its the coffee (5 cups a day loaded with sugar and creamer) which is really where I am cutting back.

definitely going to go lite on starches. I do plan on doing a little whole wheat pasta and stuff like that. I have tried squash spaghetti but that is difficult to get used to

Good luck, man. I cut sugar out of of things like my coffee a while back. You can do it.

You'll still get plenty from most packaged foods, so it's up to you to not add any extra

Are you being literal about being a sugar addict; i.e., attending OA meetings?

You can drink coffee with artificial sweetener, they all taste a bit different, find one you like.

woof. good luck, buddy. i drink coffee and tea on an almost-daily basis and there always has to be at least a spoon or two of sugar with each cup, but i don't drink soda...no way i could go without at least SOME sort of caffeine in my bloodstream, i'd be the most unpleasant sumbitch that ever lived if I attempted to go sans-sugar.

Sorry to hear about the family stuff. Maybe try it again in a few months.

At a minimum though, you should try to limit your sugar intake to no later than 6pm.

Trying the sugar detox as well, and attempting to kick dairy. So far the sugar has been a lot more manageable than dairy. Everything you buy from the store pre-made or in a restaurant has cheese on it. You never really realize it until you try to avoid it.

Thankfully I've always been a black coffee type guy. But I've found that green tea is an excellent source of caffeine as well.

I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes last October.
Immediately quit all sugar.
Cokes
Sweet Tea
Sugar in Coffee
Ding Dongs
Zingers
Cake
Ice Cream

Anything with sugar in it.

Didn't feel good for weeks, headaches, no sleep, etc., but it was a 50 year sugar addiction/high.

Carbohydrates were the next step.
Although they break down in the body slower than sugar/corn syrup, they have the same effect and for my situation were just as bad, as my blood sugar would fluctuate a lot.

Got it under control now, for the most part, but I don't get to eat the most favorite things I always could before, ever. It's really bland. I didn't have cravings for cigarettes when I quit like I still have for sugar today. It's a tremendous addiction and for me, it was a life or death decision to get better, so I got better.

Good luck.
