Okposo came out and scored the OT winner last night against the Hawks, guess you can say that is redemption for not being picked.

But last I heard, he wasn't even talked about at all.

i think thats what the "deepest apologies to Bobby Ryan" and "Bobby Ryan made Brian Burkes final team list" were about in this mornings media conference call with David Poile

Team USA GM Poile apologizes to Senators' Ryan for comments

I haven't been following much of what was said, but looks like David Poile wants to apologize to Bobby Ryan. And that Ryan was on the "final" roster and looks like Burkie cut him at the last minute?

I have no idea.



Oh, and the Jackets on air guys said that Jack Johnson found out he wasn't on the team by watching the show after the Winter Classic. With a house full of friends. Granted, I didn't want him on the team and he hasn't played well enough consistently to be there...

But that sucks. Who's runnin this show?

They clearly need a PR specialist involved, or something like that. It hasn't been great. Apparently the players who were chosen were texted prior to the reveal at the Winter Classic...but bubble guys probably had to sit and wait.

Ryan said that if he were asked to play for USA in upcoming tourneys, he'd do it. Spiteful or not...you don't turn down the opportunity to play for your country at the Olympics. That's just crazy. That said, if a "bottom line" guy like Callahan or Stepan or the like is hurt...is Ryan the next call? Because based on the argument they've made (not fitting outside of the top 2 lines), that wouldn't make sense.

Okposo is tied for 9th in the league in scoring with 42 points in 42 games, but he's not good enough to make Team USA. I can't help but be surprised that Burke & Poile have problems with how they've handled the situation. How guys like Ryan & Johnson found out is very telling.

all good.. really about the best we could ask for in terms of times for the US games.. saturday/sunday are easily watchable, and at least we'll be awake for the slovakia game.. might be 'sick' that day

I might be in the minority but I'm not a fan of the NHL being in the Olympics, especially when it takes place during the season and when it's in Sochi or any other place where the times are messed up
