If we are at the break looking bad then all expiring contracts are open game. But until then we play it out. I would love to resign Darvish but he may have it in his mind to seek free agency. I think a WS could change a lot of players thought process

Darvish must be extended or traded. Can't let him walk for nothing.

Tyson Ross was nom-tendered. Anyone interested?
Worth a look. If he comes back from the shoulder surgery he may be what we need.

I for one am not, but then again I would have rather had Holland than Cashner and JD liked something about that scrub, so he's likely in on Ross

Darvish value and health are at a premium right now. At the AS break, who knows.

If you're keeping up, my point was/is, if the team feels Darvish wants to go the FA route, I strongly feel someone will pay more than we will. So we at least should see what's available for him.

I do think saddles point of trading Hamels/Beltre if Yu is gone, certainly holds validity too though.

My jury is out on Holland vs Cashner. But the fact of how the team has handled Holland tells me they have no faith he's worth much more than a ham sandwich at this point.

As far as Ross is concerned, he's got a very solid under 4 ERA for 7 seasons while pitching for some poor franchises. It, as always, comes down to "how much for how long" as far as my interest is concerned.

Billy Hamilton in CF and leading off is quite intriguing to me

Great comp we may be able to still get Desmond for one year due to CBA but really like having an elite CF who can lead off

I just don't see Gallo as an elite talent anymore. Haven't been impressed with him in the field or with the bat.

I agree with ya, but I sure hope we're both wrong.

I cut him some slack, especially defensively, since we've toyed with him at different positions at different levels a lot over the past 2 years.

I'm not ready to give up on him yet. But he has to show major improvement this year. I hardly ever disagree with JD, but I do here. I can't believe JD really think he is elite.

I noticed that not only did JD call him elite when he didn't have to, but he called him "elite elite". He doubled the adjective for emphasis.

No biggies 16 mill is a lot to pay for leadership. Hope he provides what Lance B provided to us.
Leadership and a lot of home runs. He is a better use of money at that price than a few players that we have had lately.

When you have a lot of cheap home grown talent you can afford to overpay for a few veterans.

Ross isn't really comparable to Cashner.

he had that that TOS that harvey also had.

But he was a stud when healthy.

And his heavy GB tendencies work well in a hitter friendly part like yours.

My own personal guess is he's going to the Cubs though. lol
