Mets win 6-3 in 6 innings.
Gsellman, Mets douse Phillies 6-3 in 6 rainy innings

ARMS WATCH

Two big-name Mets pitchers are on the mound Thursday night. Matt Harvey starts at Citi Field against the Reds, his second outing since returning from a mid-June shoulder injury. The former ace was tagged for seven runs and eight hits in two innings Saturday at Houston, the shortest start of his career. New York teammate Noah Syndergaard makes a rehab start for Class A Brooklyn against the Staten Island Yankees. Syndergaard has been out since May 1 with a torn lat muscle but is expected back before the season ends.

Amed Rosario's bruised right index finger remained swollen, and the rookie shortstop missed his third consecutive game. ... INF Wilmer Flores (broken nose) sat out for the fourth straight game and will be re-examined Thursday. ... All-Star OF Michael Conforto had surgery in Los Angeles to repair a tear in the posterior capsule in his left shoulder, with an update due on Thursday or Friday.

Damn Harvey. When I pick against the Mets, he wins.

When I pick FOR the Mets, and deGrom is pitching, they lose.

One of the positives about the team sucking and being out of post season contention is we get to see a bunch of youngsters & call ups show what they can do at this level (or not do in some cases) that we wouldn't ordinarily get to see on a daily basis.
In fact, that is the Only positive.

They're certainly playing differently; being more aggressive on the bases and at the plate, being loose in the field, etc.

Welp....so much for that theory ^^ lol.
Now they'll have to go 18-1 in their final 19 ballgames to finish at .500

:heh:

Reds steal the series finale from the Mets 10-5...to avoid being swept.
Jake can't buy a break...BP gives it away.

Argument pauses for 'God Bless America,' Reds beat Mets 10-5

Mets RHP Noah Syndergaard had a minor setback in his quest to return to the rotation when his 50-pitch simulated game was canceled on Sunday. The 25-year-old righty, who has been out since May 1 due to a torn right lat muscle, was suffering soreness from the rehab start he made Thursday for Class A Brooklyn. Syndergaard instead will throw a bullpen session Tuesday at Wrigley Field.

"We are not going to push him, first of all," Collins said. We'll go at his pace and how he feels. He said he was feeling a little sore from the outing the other day and wanted to throw a bullpen and we just said, `No, until you feel better we're not going to do that.' So we'll wait."

Syndergaard injured himself during his start on April 30 at Washington. He is 1-2 with a 3.29 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings.
