Happy 10th, DW...
FIRST PITCH: The captain celebrates an anniversary on Monday.

David Wright made his major league debut on July 21, 2004 against the Montreal Expos at Shea Stadium, ending a revolving door at third base for the franchise. He went 0 for 4.

The Mets’ lineup that day?

Jose Reyes, 2b
Kazuo Matsui, ss
Ty Wigginton, 1b
Cliff Floyd, lf
Richard Hidalgo, rf
Mike Cameron, cf
Wright, 3b
Vance Wilson, c
Jae Weong Seo, rhp

Wright had been drafted by the organization three years earlier with a compensatory pick (38th overall) for losing Mike Hampton as a free agent to the Colorado Rockies.

The Mets open an interleague series on Monday in Seattle at 10:10 p.m. ET. Jonathon Niese (5-4, 2.96 ERA) returns from the disabled list to face Cuban rookie left-hander Roenis Elias (7-8, 4.54).

The Amazin’s lone other trip to Safeco Field came in 2005.

The Mariners staff includes ex-Mets Howard Johnson, Chris Woodward and Jason Phillips.

SEATTLE -- Curtis Granderson has been significantly ill since midnight, so Terry Collins is holding the outfielder out of Tuesday's lineup against the Seattle Mariners.

Collins hopes Granderson feels well enough to start Wednesday's matinee series finale.

Granderson is 3-for-16 on the second-half-opening road trip. He struck out four times Monday

SEATTLE -- Chris Young would not have been in the starting lineup Tuesday anyway, but the outfielder likely is unavailable because of a left calf issue.

Young pulled himself from Monday's game against the Seattle Mariners in the eighth inning with what the team announced as cramping.

Terry Collins said the training staff has recommended Young not attempt to run Tuesday.

SEATTLE -- Catching prospect Kevin Plawecki, who has been out of the starting lineup at Triple-A Las Vegas since Thursday, has been diagnosed with a mild case of vertigo, assistant GM John Ricco said.

Plawecki, 23, is hitting .234 with two homers and 11 RBIs in 15 games since a promotion from Double-A Binghamton. He hit .326 with six homers and 43 RBIs in 224 at-bats to begin the season with the B-Mets.

Plawecki has experienced dizziness. Ricco suggested the issue typically resolves itself and there was no incident that precipitated it.

"They just told him to rest," Ricco said. "It wasn't anything severe. He's going to get a few days off."

Hey Yogi, sorry I haven't checked in here prior. I just can't stay up late for these west coast games anymore...here's hoping they can close this series out and then maybe get a split in Milwaukee.

Hey, Sandy & TC....FFS...is it time now to bring Wilmer Flores back up???

SEATTLE -- Ruben Tejada was struck flush in the front of the helmet by a 94 mph fastball from Seattle Mariners right-hander Taijuan Walker in the fifth inning Wednesday.

Tejada dropped to the ground. He eventually walked off the field under his own power.

Tejada was replaced by Eric Campbell.

The Mets do not have a bona fide backup shortstop on their active roster. Triple-A Las Vegas actually is playing nearby in Tacoma, Wash.

A win is a win and Colon may have just bumped up his trade value a bit. The Mariners aren't the greatest hitting team but they're no pushover. That's a good team. Have to get rid of those 3 game losing streaks.
