Preview segment: The Florida International Golden Panthers
Last season: I mean, FIU went 0-5 in 2020, but in their defense they got royally f--ked over by the pandemic.
Bad news: Line play is the big worry for FIU, as the run defense has to get better and the O-line is missing some people. There are 3 QB's fighting right now for the starting spot...
Good news: ...but at least each of the QB's have their strong points. And whoever wins the job will have some good skill players to help him run the offense. The secondary looks good, too.
Key games:
9/18 @ Texas Tech (Excluding this game in Lubbock, the non-conference slate is manageable for the Panthers.)
10/2 @ Florida Atlantic (October will determine where FIU goes this season. First will be the annual rivalry game between them and the Owls.)
10/23 vs. Western Kentucky (Later, FIU will host the determined Hilltoppers...)
10/30 @ Marshall (...before they have to visit the strong Thundering Herd.)
Bottom line: The Golden Panthers are SO not going winless this year, but any chance at a bowl berth will depend on which QB they use and if it can get this offense going.
