LSU coach Ed Orgeron announced in a Tuesday press conference that John Battle will be reprimanded but will play in the Fiesta Bowl against UCF due to the senior safety's involvement in a postgame fight after a seven-overtime loss to Texas A&M on Nov. 24.

Battle was seen punching Texas A&M's Cole Fisher, the nephew of head coach Jimbo Fisher, after a scuffle that involved LSU assistant coach Steve Kragthorpe.

The fight went viral after the game, and up until Orgeron's press conference neither school had made many public comments.

    Story Continued Below

"He will be reprimanded," Orgeron said. "He's gonna play, but we don't know exactly what the punishment is gonna be."

So far this season, Battle has recorded three interceptions and 37 tackles this season.

LSU's defense will already be without star Greedy Williams for the Fiesta Bowl, who declared he would enter the NFL Draft and forego his remaining collegiate eligibility.

Orgeron did say Tuesday that freshman Kelvin Joseph will play against UCF.

The game will be broadcast live by ESPN on New Year's Day.

Retarded nephew. I’d probably be throwing unsolicited punches if I were named Cole.

Honestly the chick De'Andre punched looked tougher and that got him kicked off the team. I'm guessing Battles was protecting some Paraplegic nun with Leukemia in the 3rd deck seats to mitigate it.

If we are being real, it wasn’t Fisher. The kid was trying to de-escelate the situation and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The loser, trash, wide outs that was fired from LSU because he sucks caused the issue. Holding grudges because LSU fired him ran across the field and started screaming profanity and trying to start a fight while Fisher was trying to hold him back. Also, Kevin Faulk sees Fisher lay his hands on Kragthorpe and given his condition reacted the way he did as Battle. All because of one loser.

If we're being real, what circumstances is it acceptable to sucker punch someone already engaged with a dude twice his size.

For anyone, let alone a college football player.

If we're truly being real, LSU is down two men in its secondary (Greedy - NFL, and Phillips - Targetting for first half) and Ed knows he can't afford to lose another. If Battles had been a walk-on punter his ass would have been kicked off the team immediately for a lame ass sucker punch.

They should have just said he's suspended for 6 games next season. Most idiots would be none the wiser.

The Fisher kid should never have been on the LSU sideline after the game.
The kid was actually trying to chase down Dameuyene Craig and get him back, which was probably his job. However as we saw, that was like LSU corners trying to defend Jace Sternberger.

It was Craig. He had no reason to be there. Classless move
