Getting to the World Series is incredible but can't let off the gas now. Hopefully Murphy can find a way to stay hot despite the layoff.

To the obnoxious Cubs fans:

LETS GO METS GO!!!! NL CHAMPS!!! WOOOOOOOOO

Okay that's all the cheering I'll do on this page. Cubbies have a bright future with those young sluggers. If they could get a solid #3 pitcher next season, they could easily win that division and go deep again.

Sort of agree, not sure they will "easily" win the Central with the Cards and Pirates still being strong, but absolutely they need that #3 guy for these 7-game series.

That's a tough tough division. Of those teams though it seems like the Cubs might be most fit to trend upwards.

teams with at least a 5 day layoff between lcs and ws are 1-5 in those ws.....

As much as I'd like the Jays to come back and win the ALCS, I wish the Mets could play again tomorrow. Don't cool off, guys.

On the flip side, Harvey needs time for his boo-boo to heal up, and now Cespedes has a shoulder tweak, plus it gives more time for Juan Uribe to get 100%.

incredible coached and played series by the mets. They did everything right. I give coaches the credit because they really messed with the cub hitters by using the secondary pitches as the primary pitches. Establish the fastball later. We heard so much of those young arms, but man they are smart pitchers too. Got ahead and never trailed the entire series.

Cant be disappointed with the cub effort, they were not supposed to be here, let alone win the wild card game and a series against st louis. Experience for last year. I am not going to be watching baseball in November, even though the MLB wants us to, I think that time off that had the AL play two games before the NL opened their series got the cubs out of that moment and got them thinking too much. Biggest problem for a young team. The way the mets pitched, dont think it would have mattered anyway, just seems like they want November ball too much.

I was sure hoping the Cubs would get a third game at the Confines and give the fans something to cheer for.

How disappointing!

maybe but not overly paid...i imagine he gets a 4 year 50$mil deal. in line with utleys deal.
well at least 1 year:suds:

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mets are expected to make a one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer to Daniel Murphy.
Previous reports indicated that the Mets wouldn't make a qualifying offer, but apparently his fantastic postseason has changed things. At the very least, this would put the Mets in position to receive a draft pick if he signs elsewhere as a free agent this winter. All indications are that the Mets will turn to in-house options (Dilson Herrera, Wilmer Flores) at second base next year. Even with the excellent postseason, Murphy is the sort of player who could see his market take a hit with a qualifying offer attached

I hate hearing terms like "they were not supposed to be here" or "they are ahead of schedule" sometimes luck comes into play. Some times teams cool off and other teams pick.up steam. If your team is there they belonged there ....
