4-3 now. Kris Davis just got blown away by some call up throwing 101mph 2 seamers. Threw him the same pitch and got three swinging strikes down the middle.

You root for the Astros and Mariners to lose all games. Period. Clinching the division is all that matters right now. That isn't a guarantee at all. It is way too early to start thinking about playoff matchups. Once we do finally clinch, then and only then should we care about who might be our playoff opponent (although it usually winds up being the team you thought you wanted to face who ends up eliminating you).

Speaking of former pitchers. Ross Detwiler pitched a gem against the Orioles tossing 8 shutout innings. He's posting a 2 something ERA and is scheduled to pitch against us on Monday.

That trade almost makes you think that the M's told Wilhelmsen, "hey Tom, we're trading you to the Rangers. Just go there and royally shit the bed for a month and cost them some games. They will be forced to release you and we'll bring you right back. Do it for the team!"

I wouldn't put it past them. Something smells funny there......... I'd almost rather take Kirkman over Wilhelmsen.

You know of another pitcher who has been off the radar for ever and seems poised to make a come back? Tanner Schepers.... Just be glad we have already been to Cleveland.

Mariners beating the A's 4-1..... It's looking like we might lose another game, but it's not time to panic yet.

Astros rant re Beltre. Ha
A guy that has hit the same consistent amount of HR each season for his entire career is on steroids? A guy that is built the exact same way as he was his rookie year is on steroids? I'm thinking that guy doesn't understand how steroids work, what they do, or how they affect you.

One of the prime statistical indicators of steroid use is a sudden major spike in power and home runs after years in the big leagues as a singles hitter.

For instance, let's say hypothetically you were a 5'6" midget 2B who spent your entire career as a 10-15 HR mostly singles hitter, and then one year you magically hit 40 HR. That is a much bigger eyebrow raiser than anything Beltre has done. Hypothetically, of course.

The Astros are getting their clocks cleaned by St. Louis. There's something so satisfying about seeing little sister just getting buried like this. They (meaning Houstonians AND sports teams) have this bizarre jealous streak in them a mile long toward Dallas and Dallas sports that makes them troll us like no other. It's like they know they're an inferior city and sports market so they must lash out in envy. Jeff Luhnow and Daryl Morey are perfect examples of this. So are their fans in general. They create blogs to make up reports about how their teams are vastly more talented, and they're always talking about how everything we do is wrong and that our demise is imminent. They make fun of the current Cowboys and Rangers championship droughts, yet their respective franchises have never won once.

The truth is, Dallas sports fans and people in general wouldn't care one way or the other about Houston if they weren't a constant little pest, much like a mosquito. But their fans have for some reason built this intense hatred of all things Dallas, so I'd much rather go down to the wire with a worthy competitor like Seattle than have to listen to the nonsense emanating from down south.

Mariners and Angels are tied 2-2 in the 4th.... I'm hoping the Angels can beat them one more time. They play again tomorrow.

That sounds about right. They're only a few games out of the WC, so that's likely 25-30% right there, and they're 7 back of the Rangers, so they still have maybe an 8-10% chance of winning the West.
