It's entirely possible that Saban never did consider Texas, but his agent did his job by telling Saban to keep his mouth shut and let the speculation drive his salary up.

What more did you want him to say? He and his wife both said they were very happy at Bama. Moreover, a lot of this the game that gets played. A couple years ago UGa needed a DC (still do!). We got raises for the DCs from VaTech, Bama (Smart), and LSU, all of whom had rumors the were interested. All 3 got extensions, the aggregate of which were over a million per year. That's how the game is played. Just this year, look at Briles (UT), Sumlin (USC), Saban, Malzan, and probably a few others before it is all over.

I would guess that if you lined up all the people who really thought Saban was going to Texas, you would have 99% UT fans, 1% morons. Other than $$$, which Bama can obviously provide, there was no reason he was leaving Bama and the SEC to go to UT and the BigXII. UT is obviously a good job, but it isn't any better than Bama. Que up incensed UT fans.

Not at all. I have a lot of friends who are UT fans. I respect the team for its historical significance. But, the UT posters, here at least, tend to be arrogant and delusional about the state of their program. Not all of them, of course, but many. That's my observation. Reasonable minds might differ.
