I'm really interested to see what the new look Panthers will look like - really excited to see how Aaron Ekblad plays, plus a lot of the younger guys and the next step they could take - plus I'm happy for Willie Mitchell that he has the "C", he'll be a great leader for them

Looks like Adam Larsson's out again - what has he done to get treated this bad?

I think he ran over DeBoer's dog or something? :noidea:

Seriously though he has looked solid when he has played. Last year when he was paired with Eric Gelinas it's the absolute best he's ever looked. He must not practice hard or something behind the scenes because on the surface there's no reason he should be benched. Salvador will no doubt miss time this year so he'll get playing time but I fear Larsson will end up on another team and be a beast.

I guess I will put this here:
Jackets lines for tonight -
Foligno - Johansen - Atkinson
Hartnell - Anisimov - Dano
Calvert - Letestu - Wennberg
Cracknell/Boll/Chaput/Tropp (Game time decision)

Sooooo, two centers on the third line and the 4th is just "hey, whoever is left". Good to see Richards still has a direct link to the line juggling database on planet Weebo.

Also this:

They are so upset with him that when he showed up in July they were impressed enough to actually offer a 6 and 8 year deal and even though he's missed camp - they put him on the top line for opening night. That could have easily gone to Anisimov as he's played with Foligno and Atkinson a bunch in the past.

Watching the Habs/Leafs game last night was a good start, but watching the Winnipeg vs Arizona tonight will really signify the start of the season for me.

Wideman out, Diaz in for the Flames tonight. Good, Wideman played like garbage last night (and that Burrows hit didn't help any either).

That might be the first time in a very long time that someone not directly associated with the franchise expressed any excitement about the Panthers.

Little more on Johansen.

Coach Todd Richards told local reporters Tuesday that some drills appeared difficult for the 22-year-old in his first practice with the team. Johansen, who had been skating informally with the Vancouver Giants, skated on a line with Nick Foligno and Cam Atkinson.

“You could see there were some things that were hard for him, based on the other guys who have spent two or three weeks here,” Richards said. “It’s going to take a little bit of time. He’s not going to step right in and be right up to speed [after] practising with a junior team because a junior team isn’t as fast as the NHL.”

So he spent the last month playing with guys who are markedly slower than NHL guys and is out of synch with guys who have been practicing and playing together since late July.

So weird. There has to be some explanation. C'mon twatwaffle. EXPLAIN THIS

Gibson getting the start tonight for the Ducks in Pittsburgh. Pretty neat for the Pittsburgh kid.

A telling quote from #Flames head coach Bob Hartley on his lineup decisions against Oilers. Among the scratches is D Dennis Wideman, the US$5.25-million man ...

"Always remember that it has to be 'Always earned, never given.' You want to be in the lineup every game for the 82 games, you'll have to show up for the 82 games. Free ice-time doesn't exist in Calgary."

As an aside to that, I sincerely hope they don't waste a year of Reinhart's ELC on this trainwreck of a team.

Give him his 9 games, but ship him back to juniors at that point.

LETS GO CAPS! Pumped for Trotz's Caps debut. :thumb:

Burakovsky, Orpik and Niskanen too. I hope we can hold a lead longer than 30 seconds this year :hope:

He wasted no time in netting his first career NHL goal. :yahoo:
