I understand it when you are pretty much the unanimous #1 pick. But if there is any doubt in your game and you are competing with other players for the top QB spot (like this year) then you buckle your fucking seat belt and show GM's why they want you over all these other scrubs.

Combine day is pressure intensive and by faltering in certain area's, your stock could drop so to counter that by not throwing with new receivers, new equipment, new surroundings you feel more comfortable show casing your arm with familiar receivers, familiar equipment, familiar surroundings. Home field advantage so to speak. Many QBs forgo throwing at the combine and throw on pro day at their school. I don't see any reason to critique him over that.
