Hey all ... looking for some assistance.

I'm in the market for a new wireless laptop, but it's been ages since I've had to 'shop' for one. Have always been partial to Dell products in the past, but have been 'hearing' some not so good things about their products as of late.

Dont really want to spend a ton of $$$ (around the $500-$700) area. Would like a 17" HD, smart, touch screen (would be nice?) ... and a fairly speedy processor with decent memory size.

Any suggestions would be great appreciated. :suds:

Thanks for the response Juice.

Hahaha ... I said fark it and just went out on my own and wound up with a tablet (w/o a CD-ROM feature). I swore the store model that I was looking at had the CD-ROM in it, but when I got home and took it outta the box ... SOAB!!!! I was none to happy, oh well ...

I also did something I said I'd never do again ... buy an HP product ... the Dells were just too pricey and more than I really wanted to spend. I've got a slight case of buyer's remorse, now. You ever get so pissed at yourself that you wanna kick your own ass?

Oh ... and Windows 8.1 is busting my balls, too.

Keep your eyes peeled for deals on slickdeals.net. It's basically a community of people posting not only sales but rebates and combinations to get you the cheapest price possible. Read the comments in the threads about how to execute the sale.

If you can hold out a few months for the Black Friday deals you should be able to find a decent new one for 500-600.

I have several devices without a CD/DVD drive built in. Just get an external USB DVD drive and you are set. They don't need extra power, just the power from the USB plug is enough and they do what you need. Most are very slim and don't take much space in your portable bag. Not terribly expensive either.

Ja Wiz, that's what I'm gonna do ... there are USB and HDMI ports on this one. I will just spend the $20-30 on a CD-ROM and hook it up when I need it. I mean, how often do you really use it for other than to load a proggy every now & then ... I don't watch movies on it.

Thanx ... :suds:

I agree with you here Milk, my laptop is 15" and I kind of regret not getting a 13" screen to save on space, price, and weight.

Yeah, I would rather have a smaller laptop than a big one. Really anything more than a 17" screen and you might as well just get a desktop. Mine if 15" & it's a pain carrying it around anywhere. I really just use it like a desktop anyways.

Yea 17 inch is a big boy laptop. That is ok for a computer you like to move around house (like my mom)

But for any kinda travel ..17 inch can be a pain for some.
