Sorry Cornhuskers was taken. Who should we be? The Illinois Soybeans? Black Soil? Flat-landers?

History of an area or region shouldn't offend people, especially when that area/region plays with respect. Illinois football certainly doesn't scare anyone enough to offend them.

The dick buttkissers. :noidea:

WTF is an Illini anyway? Besides, there weren't any Indians in Illinois anyway. They were only in Oklahoma-ish spots

I also really dislike how Miles doesn't like to pressure on Defense.

When your Offense is struggling to get something going you need to create turnovers so you can score points in transition. Instead we try to win in the half court and because we have no shooters we can't keep up.

Also, transition is where you get to the free throw line. We had 5 free throw attempts last night. We actually scored more baskets from the field than Illinois, but they had 15 more points at the FT line.

I just don't like letting teams comfortably get into their half court set the entire game. Our man/help-off Defense works nicely and most shots are contested, but teams have been draining contested shots on us all year.

We ain't gonna win no dadburned shootout with any of these teams who have 4-star shooting guards.

When French explorers first journeyed down from Canada to the upper Mississippi Valley in the early Seventeenth Century, they found the region inhabited by a vigorous, populous Algonquin nation who called themselves "Hileni" or "Illiniwek" which means "men." This the French rendered as "Illinois". Today most people know little about this once powerful confederation of tribes: the Peoria, Kaskaskia, Tamaroa, Cahokia, and Michigamea. The purpose of this web page is to provide an overview of the Illinois People which will hopefully stimulate the reader to further investigate the history of the Illinois people and their population decline.

The five most populous tribes of the Illini Confederation were the Kaskaskia, the Cahokia, the Peoria, the Tamaroa, and the Michigamea. Other smaller affilliated groups were the Taporouas, the Moingwenas, the Chinkoa, the Omouahoa, the Coiraconetanon, and the Chepoussa, While some authors (e.g., Scott) consider the Wea (Ouiatenon) and Piankeshaw to be Illinois affilliates, in fact these two well-known tribes are members of the Miami family. The Miami and Illini did speak a mutually intelligible language, albeit with dialectical differences. Early French commentators believed that the Illini and Miami came from a common ancestral tribe that split in the late prehistoric period [URL='http://members.tripod.com/~RFester/notes.html'](2)
. When the French arrived in the Seventeenth Century, the Illini and Miami appear to have become two distinct tribal families.

There is your problem sir. Try Webster's or Encyclopedia Britannica. I'm surprised Google is even still around.
