Atlantic Sun--(1)Florida Gulf Coast (26-7)
Big South--(t1)Winthrop (26-6)
CAA--(1)UNC-Wilmington (29-5)
MAAC--(3)Iona (22-12)
MVC--(t1)Wichita St (30-4)
OVC--(4)Jacksonville St (20-14)
SoCon--(t1)East Tenn St (27-7)

(1)Monmouth (27-6, 18-2) and (1)Belmont (22-6, 15-1) dominated their conferences and they get rewarded with the NIT. This is why I pull for the mid-major regular season champs in the conference tournaments. These conference tournaments can be frustrating.

There actually hasn't been as much upheaval as what is being perceived. Sure a couple #1 seeds went down, but so far 71% of the teams that either won their conference or shared their conference regular season title have won the conference tournament. We'll have to see what plays out this week with the other small conference tournaments, but compared to last year, we are off to a pretty good start as far as the #1 seed(or #2 seed that split the reg season title) winning the conference tournament. Last year just 43% of the teams that won their conference title, or split it, ended up winning the conference tournament.

(10)Milwaukee (11-23, 4-14) gets to play for the Horizon title tonight. Ridiculous. Hopefully, (t3)No Kentucky (23-10, 12-6) takes them down.

UNC Wilmington and Florida Gulf Coast are both really, really good. I wouldn't want to see them in the first round.

Is it safe to say UNC-Wilmington (29-5) will be the only team in the tourney with Claflin and Pfeiffer on their schedule? Sounds like a law firm.

That's just sad!

Didn't see... Did No KU take them down?

Just to update the status on some of these small conference tournaments:

America East: #1 Vermont plays #3 Albany tomorrow at 11
Big Sky: #1 North Dakota is still alive
Big West: #1 UC-Irvine is still alive
C-USA: #1 MTSU is still alive
MEAC: #1 NCCU is still alive
MAC: #1 Akron is still alive
Southland: #1 UNO is still alive
Sun Belt: #1 UT-Arlington is still alive
SWAC: #1 Texas Southern is still alive
WAC: #1 Cal State Bakersfield is still alive

This could be a historically great year as far as the #1 seeds winning these small conference tournaments. There's really only been 3 tournaments that have had major upheaval.

Vermont deserved to get in. Counting the conference tourney they are 19-0 in the conference. Imagine 18-1 not being enough when they clearly proved they were the best team. It won't hurt Kansas, Kentucky, No Carolina, etc., but these smaller conferences are all about these last 3-4 days. I'm pulling for all of the teams that either won the conference outright or tied for 1st.

Texas-Arlington losing was a huge disappointment, they were a team that could have done some damage now they're replaced by a team that's an absolute waste of a tournament spot

DAMMIT! A 1-seed from a mid-major headed to the NIT (Akron 26-8, 13-4).

That one is not so bad, Kent State was a 6 seed in the Mac but they must have gone through some sort of a funk in the middle of the year or had injuries or something, they lost a bunch of games in early/mid Mac play but they have won 9 of their last 10 games

Kent State beat Texas which is actually better than anyone Akron beat, Akron has also struggled really badly down the stretch

Basically Kent State has a better shot of making an impact in the tournament than Akron did
