Honestly no. But stranger things have happened. When the Internet is working are both lights green on the back, and do they stay green while you are using the PC then? If so, I would still try resetting the modem as I mentioned earlier.

Is this a load of bullshit? (from my online chat with Comcast)

Yogesh: I just ran a health check on your account to check the connections and the devices, sometimes the modem has signals issues. I am now going to optimize your connection so it performs at its best.

Yogesh: What we are going to do to fix this permanently is to re-provision the modem through which the internet service is working . After a successful registry, we will replenish the signal, send correctional hits to the box to eliminate traffic that is in the network causing this connection.

Yogesh: You may be disconnected from this chat while I perform the steps. Please do not close this chat, you will be reconnected once the modem initializes. This may just take 2-3 minutes, please keep this chat window open.

Yogesh: In case the chat does not reconnect, please do not worry since it is normal . You can check if your internet is working fine, which normally would .

Emachine? I think it's your network adapter. They can be replaced even in laptops. Lots of stock ones are garbage.

The thing is, this never happened until I switched ISP's, it started happening the day Comcast installed it.

Translation: They're updating the firmware and rebooting your modem remotely ... and yes, they can do this.

OK cool, it did reboot on my end when he did this. When I woke up this morning I still had a connection, hopefully I won't be greeted by a red X when I get home.

Dammit.. on the phone with them again.. I'm going to take this box to the Xfinity store and swap it out..

What the hell does this mean though? When I look at the modem log it just keeps saying this

Port mapping is a NAT process. Basically it is what allows multiple computers and devices to share your one internet connection. It does this by creating digital "tunnels" to each device for the services required.

have they had a tech out to test the noise and signal strenth in your line? Could be a pinched or bent cable. Could be a shitty job putting a connector end on. Could be signal loss if you're splitting to 5 different rooms on the same split as the modem.

I just had it hooked up last friday.. signal was good. It constantly drops the wired connection I've changed cables, I've hooked laptops up to it, when you leave it idle it just drops and the only way to re connect is to reboot modem. Xfinity store is close by, so I am going to swap it out first, because I don't feel like taking another half day off to meet the comcast guy.

Note it drops completely (Red X) not yellow exclamation point.

line splits to 2 tv's and the modem.

So you have used multiple PCs and still see the same results?

They can check your signal strength remotely as apparently they already did. Definitely sounds like a modem issue in such a case. Every other variable has been tested.

Yes sir.. I have hooked it up to my desktop, and 2 different laptops via ethernet port, same result.. I also used a couple different cables and ports in the gateway thing.

@raider bill If at all possible I would look into buying your own modem, the payoff is about 14 months if they charge you the normal fee for renting a modem. Motorola makes some good modems that will work with Comcast.
