Wow Marte is in center after only 2 or 3 times there in Tacoma. Why not keep him in Tacoma if he was going to learn center more or trade Jackson. Just another example of this organization not having a fucking clue what its doing.

I read that M's wanted him to work with Van Slyke so that is why the call up. Whatever at this point I guess. I hope he works out.

Yea I guess that makes sense. It just seems like it's a different plan every few weeks. Ackley at 2B then in the OF. Brad Miller at SS then Chris Taylor at SS. Brad Miller in OF then back to SS. marte at SS and now in the OF. I just can't keep up I guess

I'm with you on that. Just like having a different lineup almost every night then they ask their players for consistency...huh?

I think it's safe to say Carson Smith isn't closer material...

Arm fatigue is my guess. I had him all year in my fantasy league but traded him last week assuming this would happen.

Yea probably a safe bet. Essentially his rookie year and has been used in a ton of high leverage spots. I wouldn't write him off as a closer but it wouldn't shock me if he is shaky the rest of the year.

I think Smith has the stuff and the mindset to be a good closer.

He's just barely faced 200 MLB batters in his career, so I'll wait before pronouncing judgment.

Needless to say, the bullpen needs a lot of work in 2016. A good closer is a luxury for a team with so many other deficiencies, though. Address those first, or having an ace closer is pretty meaningless.

Sounds reasonable to me. He's clearly over-throwing his fastball right now and does not trust his slider with runners in scoring position.

Mariners can't relax in this stadium. With the arms the Rockies are pitching in this series, the Mariners should sweep. But they have to keep working the pitch count instead of trying to park everything in the outfield seats after they get a decent lead. Hopefully (but doubtfully) they learned something yesterday.

I caught the game around the last inning that Felix pitched, and as he left the game, Davis Sims wouldn't stop talking about how great of a game Felix pitched.

...What the fuck?

Since when is giving up 11 hits, 1 walk and 4 ER in 6.2 innings a great start? Not just in general, but from the guy you're paying $730,000 a start to give you half the ER and hits?

Mariners, if you won't at least give us a good team, can you at least give us a good play-by-play team for television?

I watched the whole game but must ave tuned Sims out when he made that comment. Felix was not good at all. Yes the thin air played tricks with his curve, but regardless he stunk it up. Blowpen wasn't much better. Beimel got a 1 pitch out making him the lone bright spot in my book.

There was that and I'm pretty sure they said something similar on the postgame score.

I'm not sure if they think people are really stupid or if they legitimately don't know what they're talking about.

Cano since July 1st: .324/.380/.586 7 HR 21 RBI
Cruz since July 1st: .358/.419./683 11 HR 20 RBI
Seager since July 1st: .298/.365/.468 4 HR 6 RBI

Can't blame the middle of the order for the 14-16 record over that span.
