Just curious what do you guys think? I have plenty of options right now.

Here are the current guys on waivers in my league.

Feliz
Axford
Hunter
Hawkins
Soria

Name some others who you think is a good option as a possible sleeper

I like the winner between Feliz/Soria, and if Hunter would stop giving up HRs, I'd love him.

Yeah I've been waiting on an answer for the closer role in Rangers camp. Looks like we won't have it by 8pm.

I know who I'm banking on, but I'm not punting saves this year, so I'm not about to hint as to who I think it'll be

See, here's the thing about Washington: he might do something wacky like a commitee. :gaah:

But I also know whom I'd prefer...

Scheppers should get first crack at closing for the Rangers, in my opinion. I know that they are trying to stretch him out to become a starter, since the rotation has several questions marks, and both Soria and Feliz have had success closing. Neither of them, however, currently throw like they did when they were closers. To me, Scheppers pitches the way you want your closer to pitch.

With Ogando, Tepesch, Saunders, Hanson, and Colby Lewis all fighting for the final two spots/fill in for Holland..added to just how good Scheppers was in setup last year..I highly doubt they're giving serious consideration to him for a starting spot..but I don't doubt that he coudl end up in the saves mix..not one single bit

Not big on the lower tier closers this year. It seems all the "set up" guys who should have been closing have since graduated.

I too am skeptical that Scheppers ends up starting, but based on what I've read and the way he has been used this spring, the club is clearly interested in evaluating his potential to start.

I'm tempted to pick up Hunter but his HRs is a cause for concern

Orioles closer has saved 50 games in back to back seasons. Just saying.

But my issue is if he's giving up the long ball a ton, wouldn't they replace him for someone else in the pen?

I would definitely be concerned about Hunter losing his job. At the same time, the O's closer figures to get quite a few chances and it doesn't look to me as if they have very good alternatives.

A few guys who I think could end closing some games, besides Scheppers and the guys you listed, are Farquar, Melancon, and Strop.

To me, though, if you're worried about saves, it can often pay to be near the front of the waiver order and wait and see who gets hurt or lit up and loses his job.

For sure. None of those guys are safe though. The alternative would be to take Axford and Cody Allen and then pray for Axford to lose his job quickly. Then you will have a good closer.

Nice call on Scheppers.. Although I think it really leaves the Rangers bullpen lacking, he's got his rotation spot. Would've never guessed

Even happier that I did it last night, before it was official ;)

True. You might've had some competition for him this morning.
