I'm shocked Minnesota is 12th. We haven't put a player in the league in a decade. Good list though.

Do you have a list with just active players?

I can sort the list by active players, but I don't have MP by active players. I'd thought about it and might put it together at some point.

Here are the top schools in terms of # of active players:

Minutes per player is a good indicator of how successful each program is at developing their talent.

For example, Kentucky is #2 in number of players but their Minutes Per Player isn't even in the top 15.

Isn't that because most of them are young and haven't finished their careers? They've got the most active players, a lot of whom will be playing significant minutes in the next few years.

All those players UNC and Kentucky have sent to the NBA lately and Vince Carter and Tayshaun Prince are still their top players today in the NBA? Pretty sad......

I'm just shocked that Joel Pryzbilla is still considered active! Had no idea he was sitting on the end of a bench somewhere.

Yeah, I think the MP/player is a possible indicator of both.

If the value is low and there are not a lot of active players... that is a sign of players not doing well in the NBA.

If there are a lot of active players, that should be taken into consideration.

It would be interesting to see MP/player/year. That would get closer, but you still have the problem that most players get less playing time in their first few years. And you would be ignoring the fact that playing many years is a sign of success.

Keep in mind that "top player" here means the player with the most minutes played. Veterans that started consistently throughout their career will beat out stars still in their prime.

Don't believe that Earl Watson is playing more minutes than Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, or Darren Collison.

This is based off their career minutes played. Watson has been in the league much longer than all 3 of those guys.

I'm surprised as well to see Minnesota up that high.

Man, the other half of the B1G must blow then, cause 7 out of the top 25 are current B1G schools....and 4 are in the top 10.

Yeah, Nebraska, Northwestern, Penn St, and even Wisconsin bring em down.

Here is the bottom 25:

You could build a team of former Longhorn basketball players today and they would whip any school's former players in the NBA today. All that talent and Barnes has never won it all :L

I'd probably take Kentucky and UCLA over Texas but it'd be close. Texas doesn't have any guard play.

Ok this game sounds fun...

UCLA could make a pretty sick team:

PG Russell Westbrook / Baron Davis
SG Reggie Miller / Gail Goodrich
SF Marques Johnson / Kiki Vandeweghe
PF Kevin Love / Willie Naulls
C Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / Bill Walton
