1978. Nebraska beat Oklahoma 17-14 in Lincoln.

I was a poor college student. I was confident that Nebraska would upset Oklahoma that I made straight up bets with three different Oklahoma fans. Each bet was for one case of beer.

Nebraska wins and I am gloating and drinking beer.

Bowl selection comes around, and lo and behold, it is Nebraska against Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl.

I tried to get points out of them this time, but they refused. I honored the bet and had to pay up three cases of beer and they got they last laugh.

It sucked.

Yea I was one of those that thought Miami was gonna steamroll Ohio State. I thought back then that that particular buckeye team was so damn lucky like this years Auburn. That Miami team was stacked and I thought they could have beaten an NFL team. But that's why they play the game.

For me it was the same amount of crow, because of the same team, 2 times, 10 years apart. I don't talk alot of smack, but in these 2 cases I did.

1996 - I'm watching the game with some friends who are UCLA fans. UCLA is in about game 5 of the run of 8 straight wins. USC is up by 14 late in the game and I start talking. UCLA scores to pull within a touchdown, but there is so little time left that USC basically just needs a couple of 1st downs and then can go into "victory formation". They get the first of the 2 first downs and my mouth is really on a roll. Then we get the yardage for the 2nd of the 1st downs, but the running back fumbles the ball. UCLA recovers, defense doesn't hold and UCLA ties the game. Then they win in double overtime 48-41.

2006 - USC only needs to beat a 6-5 (4-4 conference) UCLA team that we had beaten 66-19 the season prior. I was talking all kinds of smack to the same friends from 1996 about how we were going to curbstomp the Bruins on our way to the NCG. Of course UCLA ends up winning 13-9!!

When the Rams played New England in Super Bowl. Rams were 11 point favorites and I was working in Canton MA the week before at one of our facilities and was talking a lot of trash that week. Even the talk radios in Boston that week were not giving the Pats any chance vs. greatest show on turf!

Well in defense of the Rams the Pats did cheat just ask Faulk!
