Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Athletics are interested in acquiring Tigers' right-hander Mike Fiers.
The 33-year-old right-hander is a free agent at season's end and highly likely to be dealt before the trade deadline at the end of the month. He has also been pitching very well for the Tigers, compiling a 2.47 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 50/14 K/BB ratio over 62 innings in his last 10 starts. That includes 6 1/3 shutout innings against the Red Sox in a victory on Saturday. The A's have tremendous prospect depth, even after acquiring Jeurys Familia this week, so there could be a match here, though Morosi notes that serious talks have not begun yet.
