It's interesting looking at the ESPN top 10 players list for this year and seeing where the players came from. 8 out of 10 are from the Midwest.

1. Frank Kaminsky, Illinois
2. Marcus Paige, Iowa
3. Jahlil Okafor, Illinois
4. Montrezl Harrell, North Carolina
5. Fred VanVleet, Illinois
6. Sam Dekker, Wisconsin
7. Georges Niang, Massachusetts
8. Ron Baker, Kansas
9. Juwan Staten, Ohio
10. Ryan Boatright, Illinois

That makes 6 out of 10 from Illinois or states that border Illinois, making for a hell of a local circuit. Just seemed interesting when I realized it looking at the list...2014 College Basketball Player Rankings 10-1 - ESPN

The Chicago area has always produced good ball players. IMO, it's why DePaul was allowed in the Big East. KU has had prolly the best and longest program on the planet. Midwest fella's can bang.
