Michigan football team getting rings for beating Alabama 16 years ago

According to the Detroit News, only Michigan teams that won the Big Ten or national championships have received rings in the past. The 1999-2000 Wolverines finished 10-2 overall and tied for second in the Big Ten.

I guess they figured those requirements are no longer obtainable.

Beating Alabama is impressive. I don't think I would go with the "ring thing", but winning an Orange Bowl is something you will remember.

And Mike Weber, while he was a good get -- wasn't a top 25 recruit in the country, nor a 5 star recruit. And as Weber himself said, "Boy, if I could do it all over again"

That being said -- it tells you the level of recruits in Ohio. Taylor is ranked 22nd nationally, but 3rd in the state of Ohio for 2018.
