why is it only under 40... 40 is still a should make... If it is under 50 i would like it much more.... the goal of negative points is to punish bad kickers.... why have such a minor penalty??

in fact i would prefer under 40 to be -2 and 40-49 to be -1

Because I would be seriously pissed if my kicker went negative for the day. -2 is a lot.

Also, decimal scoring already makes the chip shots worth fewer points.

Depends on conditions. In a dome, sure. In cold weather, absolutely not.

Since playoffs are in cold weather, I would not want championships decided by a missed 48 yard FG in the snow.

really this is why i would want to nix kickers all together... if we are not going to find scoring to benefit the better kickers and punish the worser kickers, then it becomes ALL about FG opportunities... rewarding FGs is good, but without a penalization that matches it just doesn't do anything... it really just becomes a negative, because now kickers score so many points...

I think the same can be said for negative points for K.
K's can have a pretty quiet day. Maybe the offense scores 3 TD, so the K gets 3 cracks at PAT.

And to me, if he misses a PAT or FG, that's punishment enough (to come away with zero) cause your fantasy team just lost 1 or 3 points with the miss. You start assigning negative points, and it actually becomes a minus 4 (or 5) point swing the other way. That's pretty steep IMO.

Add in the fact that with 16 teams, some teams may draft 2 K. That pretty much accounts for all the K in the NFL as well. Not a lot of options if both of your K are struggling.

All good points, and fair. .but if a kicker didn't make his PAT, or missed his only FG, then he didn't help his team win, he shouldn't help you or me win either, score should be zero or negative, imho.

I actually lean more towards Spillers' opinion on this one. Although I'm fine with 40 or shorter, I would prefer -2 per miss fg and -1 per missed PAT...but I'm happy to compromise at -1 each, not a big enough deal to me to get into a big debate, at least not for me
