Since Matt Ryan was my first-round-bust pick in 2008, this thread warms my heart. :)

He played absolutely pathetic. Just idiotic throws. He's keeping his team from getting to the next level.

What an awful choice all things considered.

By my count he has had 5 years of good 'tier 2' QB play and 2 years of mediocre 'tier 3' QB play.

If you've actually watched the games...Ryan is playing well in between the 20s for the most part and totally blowing it in the RZ...2 more RZ picks yesterday killed the Falcons.

To be honest...I more baffled than pissed because this sustained level of turnover plagued games is atypical of Ryan's performance in his previous 6 or 7 yrs.

To me he seems to be playing with some physical issue that does not let him throw like he has in the past. He is a better QB than how he has played the last 6 or so games.

Really? A little more athletic, but Ryan's book of work is so much stronger...idk what the hell has happen to him this yr.

I won't contribute this to his problems of late, because he didn't start out the yr this bad, but I think 5 OCs in 7 seasons is a lot to comprehend and be effective.

If a failure is someone playing a game for millions well the definition of failure has changed.

He was paid for his "potential" doesn't mean he isn't a failure in the league based upon what he has done

This is kind of weird actually. Matt is like 4th in passing yards, the last 5 or 6 games...he's been turnover machine...just making some bad decisions.

Of course we're starting to hear the word..."trade" from a few in the local media, but more than a couple of fans are ready to start over at the QB position.

If CLE called, I would listen, but most likely I would hang in there with Matt. Not making any excuses for him, but I've had an itchy trigger finger for Kyle Shanny for a while

Lol.

Go look at the 2008 draft and tell us again how Ryan was a bad choice.

Only Clady, taken 10th, even comes close to Ryan in the top 17 picks.

And then you have to go back and remember where the Falcons were as a franchise when Ryan took over (Mike Vick headed to jail). Ryan was an absolute savior for that team. He lead them to the playoffs in 4 of his first 5 years. No chance that happens with any other pick in the entire 2008 draft class other than Flacco.

The Falcons experienced a complete talent drain with some horrific GM work under Dimitroff. How he has kept his job really is amazing. Luckily he found a coach that can work with terrible defensive talent and make if functional.

I highly doubt that. Flacco has rarely if ever had the pressure to perform at a high level on offense or the team walks away with a loss like Ryan has seen throughout this career. Joe was on a very short leash and wasn't highly trusted with the offense until much later in his career too.

What makes this kind of tender...Ryan is the face of the franchise leading them into this new stadium in '17. The PSL sales have been going along fairly well to date I understand, but in this huge market of transplants, the owner can't open up this new state of the art venue with an experiment @ QB...ATL is too fickle for that.

Because of that...ownership gave Ryan his second contract before his rookie deal was up...imo he played well enough during his 1st 3 regular seasons to earn it anyway, but that didn't really sit well with some fans that don't feel Ryan can win big games in JAN.

Clearly the best QB the Falcons have ever had imo...you don't go permanently bad that quickly...he has to get this figured out.
